Ready for Revisions
Now that the contract signing has been completed, I'm waiting to receive my list of revisions for my manuscript (Monster). I'll be working with Don D’Auria, Executive Editor of horror at Samhain Publishing. I know other writers who dread this part, but for me it's one of the greatest ways to learn and improve. In my opinion, that initial editorial feedback is the one true review of an author's story, before all the tweaking and tying up of lose plot threads. No matter how many drafts a writer goes through, a manuscript can still be considered raw until gone over by the objective eye of a seasoned professional–someone who has probably read hundreds of works and knows how to bring the best out of a story. So, whatever revisions are needed–bring 'em on–I'm ready. I'm actually looking forward to it.
In the meantime, I'm working on my next novel. With this story, I actually came up with the idea over ten years ago. I don't want to give away any of the plot, but I can say it's a different take on an old Legend. I finished a very rough first draft about a year and a half ago. I like to complete a draft and put it away for a time to be able to get a fresh perspective on the story. This is pretty normal for me--I usually have at least two projects going at once. You can see my About Me page for more on that bit of insanity.
New Website Design
After many years of it being up, I've decided to update my website. I have to admit that I still like the old format, but it was designed in 2001, and frankly, it looked like it was designed in 2001. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just I felt it was time for a change and if I'm going to change something, I like to make it a big change.

I'm hoping this will be a more dynamic site with changes and additions coming often. This blog page is just one example of how I would like to accomplish that goal. I will be posting updates about my books and writing endeavors as well as any upcoming events and, who knows, maybe even the occasional rant.
So, thanks for visiting. I hope you like the new look. Come back again.
